It’s official! - ICT investment in Irish schools a joke!!
An ‘official’ study has lambasted the Government’s investment in computers for schools.
The study was commissioned by the bould Mary Hanafin herself and it has found that the €252 million allocated under the National Development Plan is insufficient and will leave Irish schools lagging behind their EU counterparts.
You needn’t have bothered with the study Mary ….. I could have told you that! I have contacted the NCTE and the NCCA looking for guidance in developing an ICT plan for my school and neither bothered to reply!
Your study has found that years of under investment has left Irish schools with outdated computer equipment, no provision for technical support and very inadequate levels of broadband service. Again …. double wow …. I could have told you this also.
You bring in a payments online system for substitute teachers … great idea …. no form filling …. but we can’t fill up the online forms in school because our satellite broadband is so sloooooooooow that it fails to display the next part of the form when it automatically refreshes the page!
