Bishop beats Minister!

Hanafin Vs Bishop

Hanafin 0 - Bishop 1

Des Bishop is doing more to promote the Irish language than Mary Hanafin according to the President of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation.

Bishop’s television programme, ‘In the Name of the Fada’, charting his efforts to become fluent in Irish is presenting a very positive view of the language.

In contrast, Hanafin is banning Irish-speaking schools (Gaelscoileanna) from teaching entirely through Irish.

Talk about taking a giant step backwards.

The only effective way to teach a language is to use it as a language. Gaelscoileanna have proved this. And here we have a Minister for Education and Science destroying something that works!
