The Pieta was the only piece of work that Michelangelo ever signed.
Apparently, when the piece was first unveiled people refused to believe that Michelangelo had created it so he returned that night and carved his name along the sash across Mary’s chest.
The term ‘graffiti’ takes on a new meaning for me!
