James Garner - $200 a day (plus expenses)
I loved ‘The Rockford Files‘.
Jim Rockford was suave, rough, tough ….. and he always solved the case …. eventually!

Fair play to him!
Eugene O’Leary is a 65 year old cyclist raising funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
He’s attempting to raise €250k within the next year and a half for the hospital.
Dick York (1928-1992)

I posted about Dick York earlier. He led a remarkable life and he faced his health problems with the adage ‘be happy’.
I said I’d post some video links of him being interviewed. So here they are!
Dick York (1928-1992)

Dick York was an actor best known for his portrayal of Darrin in the 1960’s television sitcom Bewitched.
The show was a great success and Dick was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1968.
Samuel Beckett (1906-1989)

Samuel Beckett - author, critic and playwright. He won the 1969 Nobel Prize for Literature.
He was born in Dublin on the 13th of April 1906.
Happy birthday and Rest In Peace Samuel.
On this day - 2nd of April 2005, Pope John Paul II died after a long illness.
“Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.”
I liked the man. He gave humanity that ‘good feeling’ inside.
His personality and his presence is something that I still remember fondly.
I have no such opinion of Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI).
Pity ………………

I have just watched a documentary charting the final days of Christy Hennessy on R.T.E. In it Christy reflects on his career and on his life both in and out of music.
Christy died on the 11th of December 2007 in a London hospice at the age of 62. He died from mesothelioma, a form of cancer caused by his exposure to asbestos on the building sites in London.
The gentleness and the optimism of the man impressed me.
Rest in Peace Christy.
