A letter arrived to the school today addressed as follows:

F.A.O. Justin Cahir

Who the hell is Justin Cahir I asked? Have we been given a new teacher without being told?

When I opened the letter it all came back to me.

The letter was from a leisure club looking for some of the lucrative school tour business on offer at this time of year.

As a teaching principal the last thing I have time to do is take a phone call from somebody wanting to know who she’ll send on her wonderful information to ….

so I said to her ….. ‘Just send it in care of the Principal!‘

Phone call over … off I trot back to work. Conversation forgotten before I hang up the phone.

And then this arrives ….

What kind of people are being employed to PR companies these days? The girl wasn’t paying attention to her job ….. if she was she’d have got it right!

Obviously she had a list of schools to get through …. and that’s just what she did!

And another thing ….. more and more companies/businesses are ringing up schools asking for the name of the person in charge so that they can ‘personalise’ their wonderful product.

Hey …. companies …. if your ’stuff’ is good enough it will sell itself.

If not …. don’t bother sending it as it will make the acquaintance of hungry Mr. Bin!
