One that reacts swiftly to "negative indicators", take South Africa for example: "Lets implement land reform" = large exit of foreign capital and currency speculation. "Lets make the corporations pay for their complicity in apartheid"= large exit of foreign capital and currency speculation. This happened a few times, until Mbeki decided he didn't like it and declared himself a <i>Thatcherite</i>. So, the quaking in the boots is about the potential for harsh economic consequences for not dancing to the corporate tune, and the mountain of blame that would be associated. Personally I want to see the power of the WTO and IMF and world bank challenged as I am sick of the their policies. Bring back Keynes!
