What is it about Irish people and common courtesy?
Over the last while I’ve come to depair of our fair Isle ever becoming a place when people will actually do their jobs properly and return calls promptly.
Today I was promised a call back from the garage where I bought my latest vehicle …. no return call. For the second time.
The salesman was delighted to see me two weeks ago when I was considering a change but once he had a sale made he didn’t want to know. He referred me to the lady in the service deptartment who quickly lost interest when she discovered that my vehicle would only be in for a free ‘under warranty’ fix.
I’m still trying to sort an appointment …. no hope this week she says … even though I’m off on Thursday and Friday and it would be a nice thing to suit me.
Two weeks ago I chased a guy for three days to get a quote for garden clearance …. he was off to a social event and would ring me on Monday (of last week) …. no phone call …. his tough … I got another person to do the job.
This job was woth a few bob …. you’d think that people would be glad of work in a recession ….. but no ….
God help me to understand the Irish mentality.
Well bugger me backwards Bloggit you’re alive. Why don’t you answer your emails? Nice to see you’re alive, well and still having a moan. Sent $1500 and I’ll send you a landscaper who will ease your woes and work for Aussie dollars. Big strapping lad with a good work ethic. Might cost you a bit extra for the workload!
I’m also glad to know you’re still about – unfortunately the “I don’t care a toss” ethic is not uniquely Irish … Wales abounds with such tossers. Moan …. yes … pity … I’d prefer not to. Same lady ‘forgot’ I’d be free to take vehicle all day Thursday or Friday and after much huh haw said she’d ring me back again this evening …. but guess what …. no call back. I’ll not take my business back there after this. Plenty more people who’ll appreciate my cash.
I never got your emails … you must have been sent to the Spam folder …. and I never look there … I just delete them.
Landscaper hired … a nice guy …. a one man plus a few more operation. The ‘big company’ lost out of a handy contract because theri rep. couldn’t be bothered to get back to me.
cardi ~ website ventures have all but stopped … not of the mind to do much with them. My current work has me working on them but motivation to progress them at any fats pace isn’t there.
My ‘other venture’ is taking a lot of my time.
