Paul Newman R.I.P.
Paul Newman, the actor, died on Friday at the age of 83. He had been suffering from cancer.
Newman was a legend in his own time. A cool, suave and sophisticated man he was nominated for the Academy Awards 10 times.
He won an Oscar in 19878 for ‘The Colour of Money’. He also won two honourary Oscars.
Newman founded a food company ‘Newman’s Own’ from which he donated all his profits and royalties (well in excess of US$220 million) to charity.
What an amazing man.
Rest In Peace Paul. And thanks for the entertainment.

Damn fine actor, Cool Hand Luke was the first time I remember seeing him in a film and man was it a good one. “Nobody’s fool” and “Where the money is” were great recent ones.
Aww I heard it here first. Very sad. But he lived large. Keen racing driver too. I buy Newmans Own for that reason, some of the funds were spent here too. Remained handsome to the end as well.
The greatness of the man, apart from the adulation that he received from fans, including yours truly, is the way he lived his life. A forty year marriage, a rarity among Hollywood personae, and the low key philanthropic activities. He did not do it for publicity like many other contemporaries do.
I was not much of a ‘Star’ gazer when I was young, but Paul Newman was one guy I really admired!
RIP.
it’s hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways
