Richard of York gave battle in vain!

Rainbow of life!

Time for a little word association game.

Let’s see what I come up with using the colours of the rainbow!

Red sports car never was one of my desires/ambitions. I can’t say that red was ever one of my favourite colurs.

Oranges …. never really took to them. I’d prefer to eat a banana any day. Easier to peel too!

Yellow submarine …. that’s all that comes to mind and only because yellow is a colour that I never particularly liked. I hate yellow cars!

Green grass and green fields ……….. I love them!

Blue ………. I love blue …. my favourite shade is a dark one but not the real dark blue that most Ford Mondeos seemed to be once upon a time! For those of you into coding and web design …. this is the blue I like: #333399

Indigo reminds me of the crazy colours Mrs. Slocum used to have in her hair in ‘Are you being served?’. She used to dye her hair a different colour for each episode but found that the bleach wasn’t the best so she wore wigs of different colours for later episodes.

Violet is one of the children from ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’. I loved the original. An underdog makes it film. A great film to watch as a youngster ….. it showed that anything was possible in life. It’s only as one grows older that realisation sets in that not all is possible and that good doesn’t always triumph over evil.

Outside of the rainbow:

Black …. the colour of my car at the moment.

Silver …. the other colour I considered buying!

Pink is a colour that I never liked. It reminds me of the ‘Lacoste’ ad with your one chasing butterflies!

White ….. the colour of purity …. taken to the limit these days! Call me old fashioned but isn’t a white wedding dress meant to signify chastity/purity? ….. if so why are so many wearing it at their wedding day??

Purple rain by that guy formerly known as Prince but now known as Prince again!

So what do different colours mean to you?

Red, roses, these days I have to buy my own but they must have perfume
Orange the colour of the sun setting on a humid summer’s evening, the light permeates the gum trees and gives them an eerie glow.
Yellow, the colour of my kitchen walls, it always looks sunny even when it’s raining
Green, the moss between the cobble stones and the colour of the metre high weeds in my borders and the colour of my pool since 20 ducks have decided to call it their winter palace
Blue, duck egg blue . . .. big sky blue . . the sky in Oz is bigger than anywhere else
Indigo, more blue? The colour of a little tapestry that Clare sent me from Bolivia, it’s on my coffee table
Violet, the colour of the shampoo I use to wash white horses . . .it makes them all storybook and silvery!

    I missed this one.

Since I am off to pull some green weeds I’ll have a proper go at my own place in the next few days.

Red…ink on my messy work at school.

Orange skies like J M W Turner painted but which somehow, just aren’t orange or is it aren’t just orange

Yellow…18 yellow roses? The colour of fool’s gold? No>>.Dandelions and I only want them on my coffin!!!! Nothing else…just dandelions.

Green ….the complimentary colur to Red so I used to try to mark work with green ink when I became a teacher…among other bits of rebellion against the status quo!!!!

Blue…too often my mood…but among the most fantastic folk music in the world..I woke up this morning….

Indigo…Not really there. Just added for some
philosophial reason. But then Reminds me of Duke Ellington..Mood Ingigo.

Violet…violets were the first flowers I ever bought for a woman…… my mother…and did you know that to make them last you should sumerge fully in water so that the petals can absorb moisture? The florist who sold me those violets taught me that! Th ey were the last flowers I bought her.
