Think before you blink!

Think before you blink!

When I was younger I never thought twice of flashing my lights to warn oncoming traffic of an impending speed trap.

Not anymore.

I shared a house with some gardaĆ and they gave me a very valid reason of why I shouldn’t.

What if the guy I was flashing was a criminal, a bank robber etc.?

I’d have just helped the guy to get away!

After that I never flashed oncoming traffic again.

It’s also illegal to do it now ….. and the gardaĆ are very cute …. they work in packs!

Pass one checkpoint …. speed up … get caught by the next checkpoint around the corner!

So ………….. before you blink ………….. think!

As a rule I don’t bother to speed. If I do it is in the process of overtaking someone I am nervous about being behind. The one comment I’d make is that the nice men in the High Viz jackets do seem to make a habit of going for the low hanging fruit when it comes to return of work. I probably would too, rather than prevent crashes at 2 in the morning, or deal with people that are probably armed. I mean, I’m only human.

I try to stay within the speed limit. There are enough idiots in a hurry to die on the roads.

Looking at all the traffic on the road this weekend …. petrol is still cheap!

My you’re a prolific poster! Ours are very cute and careful to hide on bends and corners . . .although I never saw the sense of random breath testing at 11:00am on a Wednesday morning.

I do occassionally flash people as I know how easy it is to drift over the limits unintentionally and have been saved myself by others but I would not warn the many real speed freaks who populate the roads and risk all our lives. Mind you I think a Garda would have a hard time making any charge stick for flashing lights - you could always say you were greeting a friend?
