What next - a Dunnes Stores Degree?
A Lidl degree …. what next?
A Dunnes degree?
Aldi - study better live a lot?
Tesco University?
I’ve heard it all …. wonder how much of their soul a prospective student has to sign over to Lidl?
You get nothing for nothing from Lidl (and Aldi) ….
Imagine putting on your CV …. I have a Lidl degree …. it was a Thursday morning special!

I think it’s more of a diploma than a degree and I agree with you 100% on that point.
However as far as Aldi and Lidl go, I think I would be up to my ears in debt without them. I don’t understand why people don’t buy their basic weekly groceries there, you save SO much money. If you can get past the cheap packaging and low level of customer service
, it’s excellent value for money and most of their non-name brand stuff is made by the exact same companies the name-brand stuff is made by, just cheaper packaging!
Give it a go Paddy… you might be surprised!
As a singleton living alone it wouldn’t be worth my while grocery shopping in Lidl or Aldi.
I have, however, outfitted most of my garage with tools from Aldi and Lidl ….
I find that the tools and equipment available suit my needs perfectly.
For the record I think Aldi tools/equipment specials is of far superior quality to Lidl.
I have queued on many a morning at both shops …. no need to queue anymore …. plenty shops around now and the ’specials’ have been repeated so often I could have bought all the stuff 10 times over!
I have a Karcher made (Aldi branded) power washer that cost me a fraction of what a Karcher branded one would have cost me!
Thumbs up for the tools and equipment. I can’t vouh for the food but I do reckon Lidl and management degrees don’t wash.
@Debs, Paddy doesn’t eat so he doesn’t cook so he doesn’t shop
Haha . . reminds me of those email degrees I’m constantly offered . . .Apparently I can get a US Doctorate for $50! Aldi is good and cheap, and if attendance is a pre-requisite, I’m on my way to a PHD!
Dr. Baino …. has a nice ring to it!
The course actually looks good.
I was on the website http://www.lidl-degree.ie
I’d say it would be ideal for some people. Lidl actually pays the fees and pays the students a salary. How bad? I think I might apply. Career prospects look good.
Anything is worth a chance …. just read the Lidl small print! You could be paying back fees etc. if you quit your job ….
Lidl degree on a CV ….. impression not great.
Brings me back to the days of the ‘yellow packs’!
I am almost finished my first year of this Lidl degree, and FYI its one of the best decisions Ive ever made. I am attending one of the best universities in Ireland and training hard in my store. I have no student debt, my own house, car etc. and I dont have to work unsociable hours. I am almost a qualified deputy store manager and the company not only pays well but looks after us, all our meetings are held in the Hilton where we get a meal and drinks, and every three months we have a day/night out where our boss opens up a tab at the bar abd we get a meal and entertainment! this course is hard work but so rewarding, so before u slag it off get your facts straight.
Good for you Frankie.
It is, however, a LIDL degree ….. Lidl being synonymous with discounted goods …. so a degree associated with Lidl does have less than 100% credibility attached to it!
Watch your back …. I hear surveillance is sharp!
The following article from The Guardian makes for interesting reading:

its not a LIDL degree, its a DBS degree, Lidl just sponsor us through the course, in return, we work in their stores for the duration of the course
Frankie ~ Lidl did a lot of LIDL branding on it …. to all intents and purposes it’s a Lidl degree.
That’s the perception. You also have to work for Lidl as part of their ’sponsorship’ deal.
It has Lidl stamped all over it …. ergo it’s a Lidl degree awarded by DBS.
Regardless …. best of luck with it and with your new career.
